Abilities:
Teito has the ability to use Zaiphon. It is the ability to convert a person's life energy and emotions into power and comes out of the body in the form of words. The person's feelings are released and form into a tangible power. When these words hit solid surfaces the actual words become imprinted on those surfaces. In some cases weapons, such as a bascule, will be used to control the zaiphon. Teito's zaiphon is an offensive type, which means they are able to attack enemies and protect themselves from attacks. Other types are healing and manipulation.
Teito also has the Eye of Mikhail. The Eye is a holy stone that is embedded into his hand. It allows the Archangel Mikhail to descend into Teito's body for a small amount of time. When he is possessing Teito, his eyes turn red and his power increases to an incredible level. The Eye of Mikhail was held by the Kingdom of Raggs, leading to its destruction. However, Teito's father placed it inside of Teito's body to keep it safe, knowing Teito would be a fitting host of Mikhail.
Because of the eye, Teito has advanced hearing, a sixth sense, as well as many other abilities that help him to survive. When Mikhail fights, strange twig like structures erupt from his hand and can be used to attack and puncture things. Also he is able to sprout white feathered wings at his own will because of his new compatibility with Mikhail.
weapons: The only weapon Teito uses is a bascule.
History:
Teito Klein is a former slave (known as Sklave in the 07 ghost world), and has a tattoo on his back because of this. Over the course of the series he has been regaining the lost memories of his youth. He was brought into the Barsburg Empire and trained to be a soldier, but on the day of his final exam he tried to kill Ayanami, one of the military's top soldiers. Upon seeing Ayanami, he realized that this was the man that had killed his father, the memories suddenly returning to him about the day his father was killed.
Teito originally knew nothing of his past other than he was a citizen of Raggs, currently known as District 1. He was orphaned at age five during the Raggs War and then taken prisoner and raised as Chairman Miroku's battle sklave for nine years. It was his job to execute those condemned to death, and he lived his life under Chairman Miroku's roof under the protection of housemaid named Kurena. At one point Teito was unable to take the stress of being a battle sklave, and attempted to escape, but was stopped when it was revealed that Kurena would be executed for failing to watch him.
It takes a while for him to learn about his past, but eventually Teito finds out that his real name is Wahrheit Tiashe Raggs, the son of King Weldeschtein Krom Raggs, making him the heir to the Raggs Kingdom. His father had earlier been wed to Vanessa Antwort, the princess of Antwort, in an effort to ally the two kingdoms. However, Teito was the son of a concubine named Millea, who died just before the Raggs War. The queen despised him, so out of consideration for her, he spent most of his childhood in church being watched over by his uncle Fea Kreuz.
The queen was not happy that the King held such love for his son so she tried to abduct and imprison the child. She killed the maid assigned to take care of Teito, stole him and branded him with the mark of a sklave. Eventually she made a deal with the Pope who promised that she would be forgiven for her sins if she were to hand the child over to him. The queen agreed, and her and the Pope killed another child and used the corpse as a substitute for Teito, saying that he had fallen from a balcony.
The Pope sought to bring about Verloren's revival, also known as the God of Death, so he sealed Verloren's body within Teito, which made him become Pandora's Box. The Raggs king was not aware that his son was still alive until Vanessa was unable to bear the secret and revealed the whereabouts of Teito and what the Pope had planned. The Pope was stopped by Fea Kreuz, who escaped with Teito. In order to make sure Teito's soul not to be eaten by Verloren's body, the King made his son the Vessel of the Eye of Mikhail, as the Eye seals Verloren's body.
Once it had been found out that Fea Kreuz had stolen Pandora's box from the Pope, Barsburg waged war on the Raggs Kingdom, thus starting the Raggs War. Fea Kreuz tried to escape with Teito to the Seven God houses and then to the Land of Seele. Their efforts were met with hostility, and the Bishop and his bodyguards were pursued by Black Hawks member Hyuuga, who cut them down one-by-one until Kreuz and Teito were the only ones left. Kreuz was slain by Ayanami and the Imperial Army, unaware that Teito was the child of Raggs, took him as a common sklave.
Slowly, Teito's memories return to him and he finds out that the Eye of Mikhail, which the army has been hunting for, actually resides inside of him. The eye is a powerful talisman capable of letting Teito release incredible power. This places Teito on a quest for revenge against the Barsburg Empire and for knowledge about his past.
Teito and his best friend, Mikage, had sworn that they would never abandon each other if either needed help. So when Teito tried to kill Ayanami and is thrown into prison, it is Mikage that comes to help him escape. The two flee the building but are cornered on a balcony. Teito pretends to hold Mikage hostage, threatening to kill him if the guards pursue him, and thus makes his escape. However, he is injured as he does so by Ayanami and falls unconscious as he is passing through the 7th District. Three bishops (Frau, Castor, and Labrador) discover the injured Teito and take him to the 7th District church to recuperate. Because of the 7th District's law of sanctuary, as long as Teito stays in the church, the army cannot arrest him.
However, the more Teito remembers, the closer the Eye of Mikhail is to being awakened. Mikage arrives at the church after being tortured by Ayanami and forced to recover Teito and bring him back to the empire. However, Mikage refuses and his body is taken over by Ayanami who had control of his soul and forces him into battle. As the battle apparently seems to be won, Ayanami places a slave collar around Teito's neck in order to control him. Frau appears before them and tries to rescue Teito, but because of Ayanami's control Mikage dies by Frau's hand. Distraught, Teito blamed himself for his friend's death, taking all the blame of Mikage being involved upon himself. It is then that Frau brings Mikage's reincarnated form to Teito, which is in the form of a small pink dragon. This eases Teito and he keeps Mikage close at all times as a reminder of what he is fighting for.
During this time, Frau accidentally makes a blood contract with the collar around Teito's neck when he tries to get it off, becoming Teito's master. Because of this, he is able to use three commands on Teito that the boy must obey: Sleep, bind, and pain. The collar will explode of Teito separates from Frau for over 48 hours.
After Mikage's death, Teito decides to take the bishop exam as a way to gain strength. It is during his training that he meets Hakuren Oak, who becomes his roommate. The two become partners since the exam has to be taken in pairs of two, and it is during this time that Teito realizes he is growing close to another person. When Hakuren declares that they are friends, Teito denies him. He says that as soon as he is strong enough to protect him, then he will agree to be Hakuren's friend.
Shortly after passing the bishop exam, Ayanami comes to take Teito away. Teito manages to escape, but loses the Eye of Mikhail to Ayanami. However, Ayanami cannot use the eye without its vessel. After the confrontation, Teito and Frau head out to the Seven Districts in an attempt to get to the Land of Seele. At various stops on their journey, Teito discovers the pasts of the 7 Ghosts, including that of Labrador and Castor. And with each piece of knowledge he gains, he also learns more and more about his past.
They meet many people along their trip, including a young sklave. Named Capella, he is rescued by Teito and Frau as they flee the Barsburg Church, and joins them in their journey to the Land of Seele. Teito treats Capella like a younger brother figure and always takes care of him. Teito also starting to teach him about Zaiphon. Capella gained the ability to use the healing style of Zaiphon after being told by Teito that they were going to the Fourth District in search of his mother. Teito was very happy that his Zaiphon ability was healing rather than offensive. Teito didn't want Capella to follow the same route that he did. We later find out Capella can also use offensive Zaiphon when his mother is threatened. Teito blocks the Zaiphon and tells Capella not to use it because it deals pain to the heart. Once Capella is reunited with his mother, Teito and Frau continue on with their journey alone.
Another person they meet is Ouka. Teito saved her from being attacked by a band of thugs on the way to one of the districts. Ouka is the host to the Eye of Raphael, which is unknown to Teito at the time. Ouka admires Teito for his courage and agreed to visit the next God House with him but they were attacked and their plans changed. Ouka's real name is revealed to be Roseamanelle Ouka Barsburg, which would make her Teito's enemy as a member of the Raggs family. However, neither one realizes this at the time and Ouka does not find out the truth about Teito being a Raggs until the latest chapter in the manga.
Upon parting ways with Ouka, Frau and Teito take part in a Hawkzile race to get to the next district. But in the process, they encounter Ayanami who manages to abduct Teito and suppress all of his memories.
When Teito awakes, he believes he has just graduated from the academy and now works under Ayanami, with no memories of the church, the ghosts, or anyone else he had met. He also has the Eye of Mikhail back and undergoes daily maintenance checks as the army works to take control of Teito and the Eye.
Teito begins to think something is wrong when he encounters Hakuren within halls of the base and Hakuren tries to find out how Teito managed to get there. Slowly things start to fall back into place but still Teito doesn't remember the previous months.
Point in canon:Assigned a mission to protect the princess of Barsburg, Teito is reunited with Ouka, whom he also doesn't remember. It is during her masquerade ball birthday that Teito encounters Frau, who has come to rescue Teito in the midst of another groups attempt to assassinate Ouka. In the chaos, Mikhail activates and attempts to kill Frau thanks to the programming being done in the maintenance sessions. Luckily, Teito is suddenly able to unlock his memories as well as control Mikhail before too much damage can be done but in doing so he falls from Frau's grasp and back into the hands of Ayanami.
Personality:
Teito Klein:
Teito has amnesia and barely remembers much of his life. Because of this he is a cold and serious student while at the academy, even to Mikage, although the two become incredibly close good friends. He was raised and trained to be a combat slave whose only purpose was to kill criminals and that was the only life he really remembered. Because of that cold personality, Teito is seen as the star pupil at the academy. But as time passes, Teito slowly starts to feel compassion and love for the people around him. During one of his final tests at the academy, he refused to kill a criminal despite being ordered to. Instead, with Mikage's help, they managed to defeat him. After the exam, the chairman of the academy told Teito that his compassion is his greatest weakness. But this showed a progression in Teito's personality, many thanks to befriending Mikage who helps the teen to slowly crack out of that shell of being merely a sklave. Even though no one else in the academy wanted to accept him because of that fact, Mikage welcomed Teito with open arms. And because of that kindness, Teito learned what it was like to have a friend and care for someone.
Despite his normally calm and aloof exterior, Teito also can have a temper and be very quick to act without fully thinking things through. It was his rash actions that caused him to have to flee the academy when he attempted to kill one of he head officials of the army, Ayanami. It was at this point that he had to become a refugee.
Upon fleeing from the army, Teito quite literally lands in the arms of the church when he falls out of the sky and into the custody of the bishops Frau, Labrador, and Castor which happened to be traveling by at the time. They take him to the church which nurtures those compassionate feelings, as well as the strong will that Teito has. It is these qualities that help him to pass the bishop exam as he realizes his reason for living is to protect those he loves and avenge those he lost.
Teito is a hard worker, always striving to be stronger so that he can gain the power needed to protect his friends. He is diligent and quiet, only growing aggravated whenever Frau teases him. After the death of Mikage he vowed to never love anyone again, in the belief that everyone close to him gets hurt. But after meeting Hakuren Oak, he realizes that what he really wants is to just gain the strength to protect those that he loves. This desire to protect and devotion to those he cares about only gets stronger as more of his memories are unlocked and the further on his journey that he goes.
Teito's personality has done a 180 change over the course of the series. In the beginning he was a cold and serious student while at the academy. He was aloof and wouldn't befriend anyone, mostly because he was a sklave and no one wanted to associate with him. Because of that he found it just easier to be alone. But as time passes, Teito slowly starts to feel compassion and love for the people around him. Breaking through his cold personality was his best friend Mikage, helping him to open up and realize that it was possible for him to care for others. Now he loves and looks out for people with his entire soul. He devotes his life to protecting not just his friends but the entire human race. He has always had a compassion for people and a feeling that all human life was precious, which caused the chairman of the academy to tell him that his compassion is his greatest weakness and would eventually be his demise. He didn't listen, but instead that gentle side of him began to grow with the more people that came into his life and accepted him. Teito learned what it was like to have a friend and care for someone and it became obvious that his heart was large and he wanted to care for everyone.
He is still fairly calm and has an aloof exterior. But Teito also can have a temper and be very quick to act without fully thinking things through. Usually when Frau gives him a hard time, that temper can raise it's ugly head, making him lash out at the bishop. He knows that Frau means well but whenever his height gets picked on especially, he can't help but get angry. He's very sensitive about being short and Frau knows just the right buttons to push to get him riled up. But even when angry he directs it in a more vocal way then through physical actions. He doesn't actually want to hurt anyone and will only fight when it is absolutely necessary.

Mikhail's Personality
Mikhail is extremely powerful, but when in possession of Teito's body he acts more like a conceited and stubborn kid then a god. Often times when talking with the bishops he will make fun of them. Even despite that he seems to also have a type of comradeship with them and on some level, a sense of respect. Mikhail is quick to anger and is easily annoyed, both of which will cause him to become extremely agressive. He often will attack anyone that he sees as a threat to Teito and is very prone to throwing tantrums when not given his way.
He is also very arrogant always believing he will be able to win no matter what obstacles or dangers might come his way. He takes it as an insult when others underestimate him. His stubbornness and pride often prevent him from accepting help in battle, regardless of whether he needs it. Mikhail is usually very surprised when an opponent turns out to be stronger than he has expected.
Mikhail has little or no regard for human life. He believes if someone has done wrong then they should be punished regardless of the price. This was shown when he was willing to kill Bastien, despite Teito not wanting him to. He also killed many people when Teito was attacked, only caring that they were out to harm his Master and not caring the reason. Sometimes it seems he does not like or respect humans in general, although he makes an exception for Teito. He seems to love Teito unconditionally, often praising him for his beauty, something Mikhail seems to have respect for.
Because Mikhail is able to see what Teito does, and can feel with Teito feels, he is smart enough to base his decisions on those. He won't outwardly attack someone if Teito doesn't want him to, though he does still tend to do what he wants versus listening to his host. He is also able to sense oncoming danger even when Teito is sleeping or unaware of it. He is able to take control whenever he wants though tends to wait until the danger to Teito becomes too great.
Weapon Expansion: Bascule
A basule is used to manipulate Zaiphon. There are different bascules, some for people who have some or no experience with a bascule leading up to the ones for experts. With the bascule, people may attack Kor as it helps to control the zaiphon and makes it easier to direct it. Teito often broke several of these while attempting to learn how to use it, the strength of his zaiphon being too great. The user focuses his power into it and it will then contain it and send it in a more condensed blast towards it's target.
Upon arriving in the city, Teito will not have a bascule with him as he was under the direction of the army and not in possession of one at the time he was taken. However, should they be available in the city, Teito could use it to fight any threats that should arise, though he is perfectly comfortable using zaiphon with out it.

[Feed clicks on as he lands on the ground with a hard thud. He reaches up to rub his head but as soon as he does he feels nauseous.] Ow ow ow...
[That wasn't quite as hard of a hit as he would have expected from falling out of that mansion but his entire body seems to ache. He drops his hand down and uses it to push himself up into a sitting position with a small groan. Once up he looks around at his new surroundings. He's apparently in some sort of field with a design marked out but it's not really like anything he's seen before.] Huh? What is all of this? Wasn't I just with Ouka and..wait..
FRAUUUU! [He looks up towards the sky, looking desperately for the man Ayanami had blocked from his memories until just then. All he can see is buildings, so unlike the place he had just been.]
Frau? Where did you go? Where am I? [He stands up, unaware that the device is still recording next to him, or even aware it exists at all.]
Where did the house go? It feels too real so this isn't another one of my memories. A house can't just disappear though. I have to get back to Ouka. I have to save her!
[He puts hand beside mouth and shouts] FRAU!! Where are you...you perverted dumb bishop, answer me!
[He stops and just stares at the world around him. Confusion and sadness are etched into every inch of his face.] How could I have just forgotten him? What have I been doing all this time?
[Suddenly a realization hits him and he clenches his fists at his sides.] Ayanami..I need to take him to the land of Seele and stop him from hurting anyone else.
[He starts to walk away, leaving the device behind.]

Teito sat on the ledge of one of the taller buildings that had a view of the water. He had his arms wrapped around his legs as he stared out across the expanse of blue. Everything seemed so peaceful at the moment..which was a far cry from the turmoil within his head. It seemed like all his memories that he had regained recently pointed towards death and war and pain. He somehow felt responsible for all of it, even though he knew he could never have controlled what had happened to him as a small child.
"Why am I still here? Am I really going to be stuck here for months..or years? I need to get back..Ouka and the others need me."
Lifting his eyes he looked up towards the sky, wondering just what this world had in store for him and wishing he could somehow make it back to his own. He had so much he needed to do. Sitting around in this place would get him no where. He needed to get to the Land of Seele..and how could he possibly do that if he was stuck here? None of his wishes would get fulfilled in this place.
"You can't keep me locked up here forever! We all have things we need to do on our world."
Standing up, Teito clenched his fists at his side, anger spreading across his face. He would do whatever it took to get back to his world and complete his goal. For Mikage..and Ouka..and Frau..This place couldn't stop him. He wouldn't rest until he had found a way out.
"I won't let anyone or anything defeat me. Including this world. I will keep my promises and I'll help the people that are here get back to their families as well."

Mikhail has the powers of a god that is focused on destruction. He is able to summon a great beam of light that could destroy everything around him if he gets out of control or angry enough. Luckily Teito has the power to talk him down and hold him back if things start to get a little too out of hand.
Strengths and Weaknesses:
Strengths:
1. Power. Although small in stature, Teito has incredible power inside of him and has managed to figure out how to harness it and use it. he prefers to use it for good and doesn't want to kill anyone (except for Ayanami)
2. Kindness. Teito is incredibly kind and caring to those that he befriends and this can also prove to be a weakness as it makes him just a little too quick to trust people he has just met.
3. Mikhail. A strength and a weakness. Mikhail gives Teito the abilities he needs to surpass normal humans but at the same time, is a liability that Teito has to constantly watch out for as he is the most desired possession in the world.
4. Friendship. Teito seems to attract people. They are drawn to his kindness and his dedication to everyone and his goals. His wide network of friends has proven to be beneficial in his travels.
Weaknesses:
1. Gullible/Trusting. Teito has a tendency to trust the wrong kinds of people without even realizing it. He is a kind natured person and this can often get him into trouble when he reaches out his hand to help those he sees as unfortunate.
2. Size. Teito is tiny and everyone is constantly making fun of his height. He didn't have much of a growth spurt in his younger years given he barely ate anything but pills
3. Temper. Quick to anger (especially with Frau), Teito can often get frustrated to the point of yelling if someone messes with him too much.
4. Mikhail. The god can be a loose canon if let out and a danger to all humans who he doesn't see fit to be in the presence of his master
5. Memory. Teito's memories are still fragmented and that causes him a lot of distress. He is often lost in thought as he tries to piece things together and also deal with the harsh memories that he does have.
Debt: Teito asked specifically for the strength to defeat Ayanami upon his return to his world in his contract.
Characterization Sample:
[Teito lands on the ground with a hard thud. He reaches up to rub his head but as soon as he does his head starts to throb even harder. He just got over syncing back up with Mikhail and his head still wasn't quite right because of it. The god inside of him was still for once. Quiet and recovering from the release of power he had just had, leaving his host to deal with the after affects.] Ow ow ow...
[It takes him a moment to realize where he is. Didn't he just fall out the window of the mansion? If that is the case then he is probably lucky to be alive. That wasn't quite as hard of a hit as he would have expected from falling out of a window on the top of a cliff. His body aches as if he had simply fallen down from walking. He drops his hand down and uses it to push himself up into a sitting position. Once up he looks around at his new surroundings. Somehow he had landed inside of a building. To anyone else this might have seemed odd, but Teito is used to weird things happening to him.]
Ouka..? Are you here? Is this still the par...[His eyes widen and he looks around frantically, panic finally setting in as he remembers his last moments at the party.]
FRAUUUU! [He starts rushing around, desperately looking for the man Ayanami had blocked from his memories until just then.]
Frau? Where did you go? Where am I? [He calls out for the other man, not even sure he is around but wanting to at least be hopeful. He had seen him at the party so certainly he is still close by. He wants to believe that is so with his entire being.]
I don't have any time to waste..I have to save Ouka and find Frau!
[He puts hand beside mouth and shouts] FRAU!! Where are you...you perverted dumb bishop, answer me! [His voice is starting to sound a little desperate as no one answers him. Where is everyone? Why is he alone?]
[He grits his teeth, angry at himself for falling for Ayanami's tricks.] How could I have just forgotten him? What have I been doing all this time? I'll never forgive myself if Ouka and Frau get hurt...
[Suddenly he clenches his fists at his sides.] Ayanami..I need to take him to the land of Seele and stop him from hurting anyone else. No matter what price I have to pay, or what I have to do..I will succeed.

[The feed clicks on and Teito's face fills it, he is still getting used to the device and it's obvious he is holding it way too close to his face.]
Excuse me? Sorry to both you but I was wondering if I could get some help. I don't really know much about cooking but I was trying to learn something new and..
[A look of concern crosses his face and an explosion can be heard in the background. He flinches and slowly turns his head to look behind him. His face seems to go white as he stares at something behind him. He gulps and shouts in the other direction.]
WHERE ARE YOU, YOU DUMB BISHOP!?! IT'S GETTING WORSE!! GET BACK HERE AND HELP ME!
[Finally looking back down at the device with a bit of panic in his voice but trying his best to appear calm because he doesn't really want anyone else to panic.]
I was going to ask for a cookbook but I think it would be better to just ask for some information on putting out cooking fires at the moment. That seems to be far more important..
[Another explosions and the device clatters to the ground. Teito quickly picks it up and looks at it with it once again far too close to his face.]
I really am very sorry to bother you all! But..I do appreciate any help you can give me!

When he is possessing Teito, his eyes turn red and his power increases to an incredible level. The Eye of Mikhail was held by the Kingdom of Raggs, leading to its destruction. However, Teito's father placed it inside of Teito's body to keep it safe, knowing Teito would be a fitting host of Mikhail.
Because of the eye, Teito has advanced hearing, a sixth sense, as well as many other abilities that help him to survive. When Mikhail fights, strange twig like structures erupt from his hand and can be used to attack and puncture things. Also he is able to sprout white feathered wings at his own will because of his new compatibility with Mikhail.
weapons: The only weapon Teito uses is a bascule.
History:
Teito Klein is a former slave (known as Sklave in the 07 ghost world), and has a tattoo on his back because of this. Over the course of the series he has been regaining the lost memories of his youth. He was brought into the Barsburg Empire and trained to be a soldier, but on the day of his final exam he tried to kill Ayanami, one of the military's top soldiers. Upon seeing Ayanami, he realized that this was the man that had killed his father, the memories suddenly returning to him about the day his father was killed.
Teito originally knew nothing of his past other than he was a citizen of Raggs, currently known as District 1. He was orphaned at age five during the Raggs War and then taken prisoner and raised as Chairman Miroku's battle sklave for nine years. It was his job to execute those condemned to death, and he lived his life under Chairman Miroku's roof under the protection of housemaid named Kurena. At one point Teito was unable to take the stress of being a battle sklave, and attempted to escape, but was stopped when it was revealed that Kurena would be executed for failing to watch him.
It takes a while for him to learn about his past, but eventually Teito finds out that his real name is Wahrheit Tiashe Raggs, the son of King Weldeschtein Krom Raggs, making him the heir to the Raggs Kingdom. His father had earlier been wed to Vanessa Antwort, the princess of Antwort, in an effort to ally the two kingdoms. However, Teito was the son of a concubine named Millea, who died just before the Raggs War. The queen despised him, so out of consideration for her, he spent most of his childhood in church being watched over by his uncle Fea Kreuz.
The queen was not happy that the King held such love for his son so she tried to abduct and imprison the child. She killed the maid assigned to take care of Teito, stole him and branded him with the mark of a sklave. Eventually she made a deal with the Pope who promised that she would be forgiven for her sins if she were to hand the child over to him. The queen agreed, and her and the Pope killed another child and used the corpse as a substitute for Teito, saying that he had fallen from a balcony.
The Pope sought to bring about Verloren's revival, also known as the God of Death, so he sealed Verloren's body within Teito, which made him become Pandora's Box. The Raggs king was not aware that his son was still alive until Vanessa was unable to bear the secret and revealed the whereabouts of Teito and what the Pope had planned. The Pope was stopped by Fea Kreuz, who escaped with Teito. In order to make sure Teito's soul not to be eaten by Verloren's body, the King made his son the Vessel of the Eye of Mikhail, as the Eye seals Verloren's body.
Once it had been found out that Fea Kreuz had stolen Pandora's box from the Pope, Barsburg waged war on the Raggs Kingdom, thus starting the Raggs War. Fea Kreuz tried to escape with Teito to the Seven God houses and then to the Land of Seele. Their efforts were met with hostility, and the Bishop and his bodyguards were pursued by Black Hawks member Hyuuga, who cut them down one-by-one until Kreuz and Teito were the only ones left. Kreuz was slain by Ayanami and the Imperial Army, unaware that Teito was the child of Raggs, took him as a common sklave.
Slowly, Teito's memories return to him and he finds out that the Eye of Mikhail, which the army has been hunting for, actually resides inside of him. The eye is a powerful talisman capable of letting Teito release incredible power. This places Teito on a quest for revenge against the Barsburg Empire and for knowledge about his past.
Teito and his best friend, Mikage, had sworn that they would never abandon each other if either needed help. So when Teito tried to kill Ayanami and is thrown into prison, it is Mikage that comes to help him escape. The two flee the building but are cornered on a balcony. Teito pretends to hold Mikage hostage, threatening to kill him if the guards pursue him, and thus makes his escape. However, he is injured as he does so by Ayanami and falls unconscious as he is passing through the 7th District. Three bishops (Frau, Castor, and Labrador) discover the injured Teito and take him to the 7th District church to recuperate. Because of the 7th District's law of sanctuary, as long as Teito stays in the church, the army cannot arrest him.
However, the more Teito remembers, the closer the Eye of Mikhail is to being awakened. Mikage arrives at the church after being tortured by Ayanami and forced to recover Teito and bring him back to the empire. However, Mikage refuses and his body is taken over by Ayanami who had control of his soul and forces him into battle. As the battle apparently seems to be won, Ayanami places a slave collar around Teito's neck in order to control him. Frau appears before them and tries to rescue Teito, but because of Ayanami's control Mikage dies by Frau's hand. Distraught, Teito blamed himself for his friend's death, taking all the blame of Mikage being involved upon himself. It is then that Frau brings Mikage's reincarnated form to Teito, which is in the form of a small pink dragon. This eases Teito and he keeps Mikage close at all times as a reminder of what he is fighting for.
During this time, Frau accidentally makes a blood contract with the collar around Teito's neck when he tries to get it off, becoming Teito's master. Because of this, he is able to use three commands on Teito that the boy must obey: Sleep, bind, and pain. The collar will explode of Teito separates from Frau for over 48 hours.
After Mikage's death, Teito decides to take the bishop exam as a way to gain strength. It is during his training that he meets Hakuren Oak, who becomes his roommate. The two become partners since the exam has to be taken in pairs of two, and it is during this time that Teito realizes he is growing close to another person. When Hakuren declares that they are friends, Teito denies him. He says that as soon as he is strong enough to protect him, then he will agree to be Hakuren's friend.
Shortly after passing the bishop exam, Ayanami comes to take Teito away. Teito manages to escape, but loses the Eye of Mikhail to Ayanami. However, Ayanami cannot use the eye without its vessel. After the confrontation, Teito and Frau head out to the Seven Districts in an attempt to get to the Land of Seele. At various stops on their journey, Teito discovers the pasts of the 7 Ghosts, including that of Labrador and Castor. And with each piece of knowledge he gains, he also learns more and more about his past.
They meet many people along their trip, including a young sklave. Named Capella, he is rescued by Teito and Frau as they flee the Barsburg Church, and joins them in their journey to the Land of Seele. Teito treats Capella like a younger brother figure and always takes care of him. Teito also starting to teach him about Zaiphon. Capella gained the ability to use the healing style of Zaiphon after being told by Teito that they were going to the Fourth District in search of his mother. Teito was very happy that his Zaiphon ability was healing rather than offensive. Teito didn't want Capella to follow the same route that he did. We later find out Capella can also use offensive Zaiphon when his mother is threatened. Teito blocks the Zaiphon and tells Capella not to use it because it deals pain to the heart. Once Capella is reunited with his mother, Teito and Frau continue on with their journey alone.
Another person they meet is Ouka. Teito saved her from being attacked by a band of thugs on the way to one of the districts. Ouka is the host to the Eye of Raphael, which is unknown to Teito at the time. Ouka admires Teito for his courage and agreed to visit the next God House with him but they were attacked and their plans changed. Ouka's real name is revealed to be Roseamanelle Ouka Barsburg, which would make her Teito's enemy as a member of the Raggs family. However, neither one realizes this at the time and Ouka does not find out the truth about Teito being a Raggs until the latest chapter in the manga.
Upon parting ways with Ouka, Frau and Teito take part in a Hawkzile race to get to the next district. But in the process, they encounter Ayanami who manages to abduct Teito and suppress all of his memories.
When Teito awakes, he believes he has just graduated from the academy and now works under Ayanami, with no memories of the church, the ghosts, or anyone else he had met. He also has the Eye of Mikhail back and undergoes daily maintenance checks as the army works to take control of Teito and the Eye.
Teito begins to think something is wrong when he encounters Hakuren within halls of the base and Hakuren tries to find out how Teito managed to get there. Slowly things start to fall back into place but still Teito doesn't remember the previous months.
Point in canon:Assigned a mission to protect the princess of Barsburg, Teito is reunited with Ouka, whom he also doesn't remember. It is during her masquerade ball birthday that Teito encounters Frau, who has come to rescue Teito in the midst of another groups attempt to assassinate Ouka. In the chaos, Mikhail activates and attempts to kill Frau thanks to the programming being done in the maintenance sessions. Luckily, Teito is suddenly able to unlock his memories as well as control Mikhail before too much damage can be done but in doing so he falls from Frau's grasp and back into the hands of Ayanami.
Personality:
Teito Klein:
Teito has amnesia and barely remembers much of his life. Because of this he is a cold and serious student while at the academy, even to Mikage, although the two become incredibly close good friends. He was raised and trained to be a combat slave whose only purpose was to kill criminals and that was the only life he really remembered. Because of that cold personality, Teito is seen as the star pupil at the academy. But as time passes, Teito slowly starts to feel compassion and love for the people around him. During one of his final tests at the academy, he refused to kill a criminal despite being ordered to. Instead, with Mikage's help, they managed to defeat him. After the exam, the chairman of the academy told Teito that his compassion is his greatest weakness. But this showed a progression in Teito's personality, many thanks to befriending Mikage who helps the teen to slowly crack out of that shell of being merely a sklave. Even though no one else in the academy wanted to accept him because of that fact, Mikage welcomed Teito with open arms. And because of that kindness, Teito learned what it was like to have a friend and care for someone.
Despite his normally calm and aloof exterior, Teito also can have a temper and be very quick to act without fully thinking things through. It was his rash actions that caused him to have to flee the academy when he attempted to kill one of he head officials of the army, Ayanami. It was at this point that he had to become a refugee.
Upon fleeing from the army, Teito quite literally lands in the arms of the church when he falls out of the sky and into the custody of the bishops Frau, Labrador, and Castor which happened to be traveling by at the time. They take him to the church which nurtures those compassionate feelings, as well as the strong will that Teito has. It is these qualities that help him to pass the bishop exam as he realizes his reason for living is to protect those he loves and avenge those he lost.
Teito is a hard worker, always striving to be stronger so that he can gain the power needed to protect his friends. He is diligent and quiet, only growing aggravated whenever Frau teases him. After the death of Mikage he vowed to never love anyone again, in the belief that everyone close to him gets hurt. But after meeting Hakuren Oak, he realizes that what he really wants is to just gain the strength to protect those that he loves. This desire to protect and devotion to those he cares about only gets stronger as more of his memories are unlocked and the further on his journey that he goes.
Teito's personality has done a 180 change over the course of the series. In the beginning he was a cold and serious student while at the academy. He was aloof and wouldn't befriend anyone, mostly because he was a sklave and no one wanted to associate with him. Because of that he found it just easier to be alone. But as time passes, Teito slowly starts to feel compassion and love for the people around him. Breaking through his cold personality was his best friend Mikage, helping him to open up and realize that it was possible for him to care for others. Now he loves and looks out for people with his entire soul. He devotes his life to protecting not just his friends but the entire human race. He has always had a compassion for people and a feeling that all human life was precious, which caused the chairman of the academy to tell him that his compassion is his greatest weakness and would eventually be his demise. He didn't listen, but instead that gentle side of him began to grow with the more people that came into his life and accepted him. Teito learned what it was like to have a friend and care for someone and it became obvious that his heart was large and he wanted to care for everyone.
He is still fairly calm and has an aloof exterior. But Teito also can have a temper and be very quick to act without fully thinking things through. Usually when Frau gives him a hard time, that temper can raise it's ugly head, making him lash out at the bishop. He knows that Frau means well but whenever his height gets picked on especially, he can't help but get angry. He's very sensitive about being short and Frau knows just the right buttons to push to get him riled up. But even when angry he directs it in a more vocal way then through physical actions. He doesn't actually want to hurt anyone and will only fight when it is absolutely necessary.

Mikhail's Personality
Mikhail is extremely powerful, but when in possession of Teito's body he acts more like a conceited and stubborn kid then a god. Often times when talking with the bishops he will make fun of them. Even despite that he seems to also have a type of comradeship with them and on some level, a sense of respect. Mikhail is quick to anger and is easily annoyed, both of which will cause him to become extremely agressive. He often will attack anyone that he sees as a threat to Teito and is very prone to throwing tantrums when not given his way.
He is also very arrogant always believing he will be able to win no matter what obstacles or dangers might come his way. He takes it as an insult when others underestimate him. His stubbornness and pride often prevent him from accepting help in battle, regardless of whether he needs it. Mikhail is usually very surprised when an opponent turns out to be stronger than he has expected.
Mikhail has little or no regard for human life. He believes if someone has done wrong then they should be punished regardless of the price. This was shown when he was willing to kill Bastien, despite Teito not wanting him to. He also killed many people when Teito was attacked, only caring that they were out to harm his Master and not caring the reason. Sometimes it seems he does not like or respect humans in general, although he makes an exception for Teito. He seems to love Teito unconditionally, often praising him for his beauty, something Mikhail seems to have respect for.
Because Mikhail is able to see what Teito does, and can feel with Teito feels, he is smart enough to base his decisions on those. He won't outwardly attack someone if Teito doesn't want him to, though he does still tend to do what he wants versus listening to his host. He is also able to sense oncoming danger even when Teito is sleeping or unaware of it. He is able to take control whenever he wants though tends to wait until the danger to Teito becomes too great.
Weapon Expansion: Bascule
A basule is used to manipulate Zaiphon. There are different bascules, some for people who have some or no experience with a bascule leading up to the ones for experts. With the bascule, people may attack Kor as it helps to control the zaiphon and makes it easier to direct it. Teito often broke several of these while attempting to learn how to use it, the strength of his zaiphon being too great. The user focuses his power into it and it will then contain it and send it in a more condensed blast towards it's target.
Upon arriving in the city, Teito will not have a bascule with him as he was under the direction of the army and not in possession of one at the time he was taken. However, should they be available in the city, Teito could use it to fight any threats that should arise, though he is perfectly comfortable using zaiphon with out it.

[Feed clicks on as he lands on the ground with a hard thud. He reaches up to rub his head but as soon as he does he feels nauseous.] Ow ow ow...
[That wasn't quite as hard of a hit as he would have expected from falling out of that mansion but his entire body seems to ache. He drops his hand down and uses it to push himself up into a sitting position with a small groan. Once up he looks around at his new surroundings. He's apparently in some sort of field with a design marked out but it's not really like anything he's seen before.] Huh? What is all of this? Wasn't I just with Ouka and..wait..
FRAUUUU! [He looks up towards the sky, looking desperately for the man Ayanami had blocked from his memories until just then. All he can see is buildings, so unlike the place he had just been.]
Frau? Where did you go? Where am I? [He stands up, unaware that the device is still recording next to him, or even aware it exists at all.]
Where did the house go? It feels too real so this isn't another one of my memories. A house can't just disappear though. I have to get back to Ouka. I have to save her!
[He puts hand beside mouth and shouts] FRAU!! Where are you...you perverted dumb bishop, answer me!
[He stops and just stares at the world around him. Confusion and sadness are etched into every inch of his face.] How could I have just forgotten him? What have I been doing all this time?
[Suddenly a realization hits him and he clenches his fists at his sides.] Ayanami..I need to take him to the land of Seele and stop him from hurting anyone else.
[He starts to walk away, leaving the device behind.]

Teito sat on the ledge of one of the taller buildings that had a view of the water. He had his arms wrapped around his legs as he stared out across the expanse of blue. Everything seemed so peaceful at the moment..which was a far cry from the turmoil within his head. It seemed like all his memories that he had regained recently pointed towards death and war and pain. He somehow felt responsible for all of it, even though he knew he could never have controlled what had happened to him as a small child.
"Why am I still here? Am I really going to be stuck here for months..or years? I need to get back..Ouka and the others need me."
Lifting his eyes he looked up towards the sky, wondering just what this world had in store for him and wishing he could somehow make it back to his own. He had so much he needed to do. Sitting around in this place would get him no where. He needed to get to the Land of Seele..and how could he possibly do that if he was stuck here? None of his wishes would get fulfilled in this place.
"You can't keep me locked up here forever! We all have things we need to do on our world."
Standing up, Teito clenched his fists at his side, anger spreading across his face. He would do whatever it took to get back to his world and complete his goal. For Mikage..and Ouka..and Frau..This place couldn't stop him. He wouldn't rest until he had found a way out.
"I won't let anyone or anything defeat me. Including this world. I will keep my promises and I'll help the people that are here get back to their families as well."

Abilities:
Teito has the ability to use Zaiphon. It is the ability to convert a person's life energy and emotions into power and comes out of the body in the form of words. The person's feelings are released and form into a tangible power. When these words hit solid surfaces the actual words become imprinted on those surfaces. In some cases weapons, such as a bascule, will be used to control the zaiphon. Teito's zaiphon is an offensive type, which means they are able to attack enemies and protect themselves from attacks. Other types are healing and manipulation.
Teito also has the Eye of Mikhail. The Eye is a holy stone that is embedded into his hand. It allows the Archangel Mikhail to descend into Teito's body for a small amount of time. Mikhail has the powers of a god that is focused on destruction. He is able to summon a great beam of light that could destroy everything around him if he gets out of control or angry enough. Luckily Teito has the power to talk him down and hold him back if things start to get a little too out of hand.
Strengths and Weaknesses:
Strengths:
1. Power. Although small in stature, Teito has incredible power inside of him and has managed to figure out how to harness it and use it. he prefers to use it for good and doesn't want to kill anyone (except for Ayanami)
2. Kindness. Teito is incredibly kind and caring to those that he befriends and this can also prove to be a weakness as it makes him just a little too quick to trust people he has just met.
3. Mikhail. A strength and a weakness. Mikhail gives Teito the abilities he needs to surpass normal humans but at the same time, is a liability that Teito has to constantly watch out for as he is the most desired possession in the world.
4. Friendship. Teito seems to attract people. They are drawn to his kindness and his dedication to everyone and his goals. His wide network of friends has proven to be beneficial in his travels.
Weaknesses:
1. Gullible/Trusting. Teito has a tendency to trust the wrong kinds of people without even realizing it. He is a kind natured person and this can often get him into trouble when he reaches out his hand to help those he sees as unfortunate.
2. Size. Teito is tiny and everyone is constantly making fun of his height. He didn't have much of a growth spurt in his younger years given he barely ate anything but pills
3. Temper. Quick to anger (especially with Frau), Teito can often get frustrated to the point of yelling if someone messes with him too much.
4. Mikhail. The god can be a loose canon if let out and a danger to all humans who he doesn't see fit to be in the presence of his master
5. Memory. Teito's memories are still fragmented and that causes him a lot of distress. He is often lost in thought as he tries to piece things together and also deal with the harsh memories that he does have.
Debt: Teito asked specifically for the strength to defeat Ayanami upon his return to his world in his contract.
Characterization Sample:
[Teito lands on the ground with a hard thud. He reaches up to rub his head but as soon as he does his head starts to throb even harder. Quiet and recovering from the release of power he had just had, leaving his host to deal with the after affects.] Ow ow ow...
[It takes him a moment to realize where he is. Didn't he just fall out the window of the mansion? If that is the case then he is probably lucky to be alive. That wasn't quite as hard of a hit as he would have expected from falling out of a window on the top of a cliff. His body aches as if he had simply fallen down from walking. He drops his hand down and uses it to push himself up into a sitting position. Once up he looks around at his new surroundings. Somehow he had landed inside of a building. To anyone else this might have seemed odd, but Teito is used to weird things happening to him.]
Ouka..? Are you here? Is this still the par...[His eyes widen and he looks around frantically, panic finally setting in as he remembers his last moments at the party.]
FRAUUUU! [He starts rushing around, desperately looking for the man Ayanami had blocked from his memories until just then.]
Frau? Where did you go? Where am I? [He calls out for the other man, not even sure he is around but wanting to at least be hopeful. He had seen him at the party so certainly he is still close by. He wants to believe that is so with his entire being.]
I don't have any time to waste..I have to save Ouka and find Frau!
[He puts hand beside mouth and shouts] FRAU!! Where are you...you perverted dumb bishop, answer me! [His voice is starting to sound a little desperate as no one answers him. Where is everyone? Why is he alone?]
[He grits his teeth, angry at himself for falling for Ayanami's tricks.] How could I have just forgotten him? What have I been doing all this time? I'll never forgive myself if Ouka and Frau get hurt...
[Suddenly he clenches his fists at his sides.] Ayanami..I need to take him to the land of Seele and stop him from hurting anyone else. No matter what price I have to pay, or what I have to do..I will succeed.

Excuse me? Sorry to both you but I was wondering if I could get some help. I don't really know much about cooking but I was trying to learn something new and..
[A look of concern crosses his face and an explosion can be heard in the background. He flinches and slowly turns his head to look behind him. His face seems to go white as he stares at something behind him. He gulps and shouts in the other direction.]
WHERE ARE YOU, YOU DUMB BISHOP!?! IT'S GETTING WORSE!! GET BACK HERE AND HELP ME!
[Finally looking back down at the device with a bit of panic in his voice but trying his best to appear calm because he doesn't really want anyone else to panic.]
I was going to ask for a cookbook but I think it would be better to just ask for some information on putting out cooking fires at the moment. That seems to be far more important..
[Another explosions and the device clatters to the ground. Teito quickly picks it up and looks at it with it once again far too close to his face.]
